Why I built aHasnap!

I built aHasnap! because I believe children deserve practice that helps them feel capable, not defeated. Most of the children I have watched practice on a screen are doing one of two things: pretending it is fine, or quietly giving up. I built this for the second group. And for their teachers, who already know exactly which children those are, and who would like a little help.

aHasnap! is daily practice. Math, reading, science, history. The skills your school is already trying to build. What is different is how the practice feels to the child while they are doing it.

I do not rush them. I do not punish wrong answers. I try, as carefully as I can, to make practice a place a child wants to come back to tomorrow. I have spent a long time figuring out what that looks like. I have spent equally long making sure the result is something a serious school can trust.

The kids who used to disappear at math practice. I’m starting to see them stay.

That sentence, from a pilot teacher, is the whole reason I am doing this. Not bigger scores. Not a new dashboard. Not a more sophisticated algorithm. A child who stayed, when before they would have gone somewhere quieter in their own head.

I want to be careful about what aHasnap! is not. It is not magic. It is not a replacement for the teachers in your building, who are still the most important learning technology your students have. It is not a complete curriculum. It is not the only thing your school should do for the children who are struggling.

It is, I hope, a thoughtful daily practice companion. Built with care. Built with educators. Built around how children actually feel while they learn. Built to support the work your teachers already do, not to replace it.

I care deeply about children feeling successful while they learn, especially in the small moments when confidence is either built or lost. I am building aHasnap! with educators, for real classrooms, around the belief that confidence, persistence, and learning belong together.
